There are numerous academic goals we work on each day in kindergarten. Below you will find the most important ones for first grade readiness and those we will spend the most time on in kindergarten. We have different expectations for each quarter that move along with the curriculum we are introducing. The language arts and math links on this site will list more of these specifics. - Use phonics-based spelling to write stories
- Read and write all 40 kindergarten sight words (star words)
- Recognize and make rhyming words
- Manipulate letters to make and read a variety of words
- Orally blend and segment words
- Use known comprehension strategies to understand stories being read
- Track print from left to right, read sentences that include our star words and word family words, and decode simple unknown words
- Confidently read a level C book
